Glen Ellen Vista

Sonoma Valley, CA

Perched upon the property’s steep hillside in Glen Ellen, this 4000-sq.ft. rebuild from the 2017 Nuns Fire, designed to embrace two sisters’ tight bond, resiliency, and fondness for family gatherings, is celebrated with a voluminous space overlooking the Sonoma Valley.  Four-bedroom suites, two at each wing, with a bunk room for additional guests, frame the sweeping views through expansive glazing and vaulted ceilings. The living room, dining, kitchen, and loft game room are open at the core with exposed rafters and steel collar ties.

A steel and wood covered dining terrace overlooks the pool and pétanque court with expansive views blending inside and out. The home is furnished minimally by the sisters to allow “the views to be the art”. A soft-toned interior palette and wood paneling with warm west sun streaming through the exterior wood shutters complement the lush landscape. The thoughtfully crafted landscape design blends the house into the site, incorporating boulders from the property to create terraces, walls, paths, and steps to the pool, surrounded by Provence-inspired rows of lavender, rosemary, and olive trees.
